Making sure it's a Merry Christmas!Abby and Casper getting into the party mood!

We at BURNS PET NUTRITION would like to wish each and everyone of our customers a very happy Christmas.

As there may be a little over-indulgence during the festive period the temptation is to invite our pets to do the same. Treats and trimmings will be flowing from every angle and fallen crumbs are in abundance.

A Few Seasonal Words of Advice!

  • If you do feed your dog a few extra treats at Christmas, or a share of the turkey dinner, please ensure the amount of Burns fed is reduced. If your dog is lucky enough to be visited by Santa with a stocking full of edible goodies, please ration the amount of treats fed and the amount of Burns given.
  • As we all know over-indulging can leave you feeling stuffed and a little sick at times! It is no different for our dogs.
  • Unsupervised dogs who have been lucky enough to receive presents, can demolish them playfully, but then swallow the small pieces of plastic causing problems. Stolen presents from under the tree and secretly unwrapped in your dog’s favourite hiding place or bed may also cause problems if eaten!
  • Those of you who have real Christmas trees should watch the dog’s feet. The pine needles can stick in or become lodged between the toes or pads of your dog’s feet. This is very painful and if undetected may cause infection.
  • If your dog does suffer from digestive upset over the Christmas period, the cause will probably be Over-indulgence! Rest your dogs stomach for 24 hours, feeding cooked rice after this time with a slow re-introduction of the usual food only.
