Questions about feeding
Burns Moist Food...
Why
has it been introduced?
Because many Burns users have asked us to produce moist
food to go with the dry food. At least 20% of Burns
customers already add some moist food to the Burns dry
food.
Surely Burns Pet Nutrition
has always said that it is wrong to add some moist food
to the dry?
I have never approved of adding proprietary wet pet
food to Burns. This is likely to detract from the benefits
of feeding Burns. However, I have always been happy
to recommend the use of homemade food. Exceptions to
this are when the dog has a health problem or when the
moist food is used as a way of indulging a fussy dog.
There are also occasions when our nutritional advice
is to supplement the dry complete with some other food
depending on the needs of the individual.
Why do the recommended
amounts for mixer and the dry complete seem to be the
same?
The feeding amounts are only intended as a general guide,
as always the actual amounts need to be adjusted to
suit the individual. Feeding is not an exact science.
Many pet owners would like to have exact feeding amounts
but life is not like that.
Some of these points are explained further in the Burns
Guide to
Natural Health Care (page 43).
John Burns.
Other questions we have
been asked about the wet food:
Q) If Lamb, Rice, Carrots
and Peas make up 74%, what is the extra 26%?
A) Water
Q) How long
can a tin stay open for?
A) Common sense! When it starts to smell
or dry out it has been open too long.
3-4 days maximum.
Q) Can the food
be frozen?
A) Yes, but only once. It should not
be re-frozen and thawed. DON’T freeze in the tin,
it will explode!
Q) Is the food
suitable for puppies?
A) Yes, but mixed with the Burns dry
puppy food
